EBay is a great market place for buying used audio books. EBay sellers usually offer attractive prices and discounts in their auctions. Still, as an intelligent buyer, you need to be careful before placing your highest bids on them. You need to ask a few questions even if the seller has provided a detailed account about the condition of the audio book especially about the level of clear audibility and also photographs if any.

Quality and Cost
When bidding for an item, as is the case with most auctions. You need to control your emotions even if the audio book you bid for is very dear to your heart. You must remember that you want to make savings not at the cost of the quality of the audio book. Even the cheapest price and its shipping cost will go waste if the audibility of the audio book is poor.

There are certain sellers on eBay who specialize in selling used audio books. So it is advisable to read about their previous sales and the feed back they have received from their buyers. A positive feed back rating is a great recommendation in buying the old item from that seller.

Questioning the Seller
Besides the good feedback, it’s a good idea to ask whether the owner whether or not they have listened to the audio book themselves. If so, did they find any problems with clear audibility? This shall also ensure that the information that the seller is providing is based upon there actual listening of the audio book and not just from its appearance. Also ascertain the format of the audio book.

Is it in form of a tape, a cassette or a CD? Is that format compatible with your device? Does the CD/tape/cassette have any scratches on it? An audio book in CD format would be a good choice as it is harder to cause scratches on CD than on the other two types? Ask about the condition of the case of the audio book. If the case is really worn out, it is fair indication that the audio book has been heavily used and its audio quality may not be up to the mark. Ask to rate the overall condition of the audio book by rating it on a scale of 1-10 with I being the worst and 10 being the best condition.
